Welcome to the Van Cortlandt Track Club home page. From its
humble origins in the late 1970's as a small group of runners meeting
for jaunts around the Jerome Park Reservoir in the Bronx, VCTC has
grown into one of the oldest and most prominent running clubs in NYC,
with members from all five boroughs, Westchester and beyond.
The VCTC is open to all runners, regardless of ability or
experience. Some of our members have been running for many years,
others just for a few months. Some regularly win awards at local races;
others prefer not to race at all. What we all share is a love of
running and the camaraderie that develops as we hit the roads and
trails together. Every Saturday morning at 8:00 we meet at the Van
Cortlandt Park handball courts (242nd Street and Broadway) and take off
for group runs at a variety of paces. We all enjoy the historic Van
Cortlandt Park cross-country course, now completely renovated, and the
numerous wooded trails that run throughout the park and up into Yonkers.
New to the neighborhood or visiting the area for a few days? Feel
free to drop in for a run, and please consider joining our club.
