Meet at Handball Courts at 8am.  The route will go north up the OCA to Hastings, along Farragut Ave, then back to Vannie on the South County Trail/Old Putnam Trail for brunch at the Short Stop.

I will be there. 8 minute/mile pace. Best, Dave Rippon

On 9/16, do we have to run the full 20?  I will only need to (or be able to at that point) run 10 miles.  Maybe I can join you for the run down, joining at Palmer Road.  I would be running at a 10-11 minute pace.

Hi Maryann

There may be options but could you run 10 on Saturday perhaps as the standard route round Tibbets but with an extra loop of the Flats

Hey Kevin, are all the long runs going to be the same route - along the OCA trail? Just some ideas on different routes, run over the GW & towards the Palisades or run along the west side highway into Brooklyn....

Hi Lorraine

I'm not committed to a set route and did think about GWB and Pallisades but we'd have to figure out who will drive over the bridge to set up an aid station or 2.  The route is also a bit hilly and thus unlike the marathon.  If we did do GWB it would be best to be the second run, but I'll be in Athens doing the 250k to Sparta.

this is great! so the first one is on 9/16? i'll be there, i'm running 9:30. i am training for my first marathon and was a bit nervous about doing the long runs alone, so this is perfect. thanks!!

Thanks for organising this, Kevin. As I mentioned to you, Sunday mornings are unfortunately no good for me in September due to cross country season, but I might run this very same route the day before by myself and let you know what the handicap time is for the workout (hopefully not DNF like last time!).

I plan to come for 17 miles, about 10 min pace.  Thanks.

Thanks for organizing this! I'll be there at 8 a.m. for the full 20, shooting for 8:30 - 8:40 pace. See you then! Andie Davis
I'll be there. Running a 10:30 pace. Thanks for organizing this. See you then.

update: i'm still coming but nursing a sore knee so hoping to slow down a bit to 10-10:30 per mile. two questions: 1) are we meeting at the handball courts at VC stadium in the park? 2) will anyone be parking a vehicle where i could possibly stash a small bag during the run? thanks!!

No one has yet volunteered to do a water stop so i'm hoping to persuade a friend to help.  I'll stash water at the halfway point at the very least but hopefully we'll be ok.  Aim to be flexible.
